I am a Licensed Marriage and Family therapist in the state of New Jersey. I hold a Master's degree in Psychological Services and a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. I specialize in psychotherapy for individuals, couples, and families, and for all ages (adults, adolescents, and children). Specializing in family therapy means that I am trained to work with multiple people across multiple generations at the same time. Whether you are seeking therapy for yourself or together with a partner, children, or other family members, my specialty allows me to help you create change for yourself, as well as within your important relationships.
My main approach to treatment utilizes the Structural Family Therapy model, which means that I pay close attention to how boundaries are organized within your relationships, and what that means to the quality of those relationships. I also consider some of the Attachment Theory models, which influences my work by looking at your early attachments to caregivers and how this might impact your current attachment within your other important relationships.
Some of my specialty areas include: anxiety, depression, grief, divorce/separation, intimacy issues, infidelity, sexual violence, parenting support, stepfamily/adoption dynamics, lifespan transitions.
I am an out of network provider. As such, I am not paneled with any insurance carriers. As a Marriage and Family Therapist, I take a non-pathological approach to treatment, which is in direct conflict with the heavy diagnostic requirements of the insurance carriers. I believe I can serve my clients better without the intrusive requirements of the insurance carriers that can impact your privacy, limit the type and duration of treatment, and require you to receive a formal diagnosis to qualify for coverage. If you have out of network benefits, I can provide you with a superbill for reimbursement from your insurance carrier.
Fee per session is $220.
How long has this practice been open? I opened this private practice in 2021. Prior to that, I worked at Family Service League in Montclair, NJ.
Are you taking new clients? While I do have a full calendar, my goal is never to keep clients in treatment longer than they need to be, so spots do open up for new clients from time to time. I encourage you to reach out by email, phone, or text to check my availability. I will respond within 48 hours, regardless of my availability, so that you're not left unanswered.
How long does treatment typically take? Depending on your reasons for seeking treatment, and how many family members will be attending, typical treatment can last from 6 months to around 2 years for more deeply rooted issues.
Do you charge a cancellation fee? My belief about life is that it can get complicated, and as your therapist I never want you to feel like you have to put your session before another urgent matter in your life or else you'll be charged. Therefore, my policy is that I do not charge for last minute cancellations, as long as they don't occur too often. If they do, then we'd work on boundaries before I'd charge you for cancelling!
I typically return calls within 48 hours. I will always return your call, even if it is to tell you that I am fully booked. I won't leave you hanging!
